ITE

About This Project

This site has been created to support anyone involved in the education and training of English teachers. Although the primary audience is English PGCE co-ordinators, both in universities and schools, it will also be of interest to school-based subject mentors. Trainee teachers may also be interested to look at the site. The creation of this website has been undertaken by the National Association for the Teaching of English and the United Kingdom Literacy Association in association with Christ Church Canterbury University College and is funded by the Training and Development Agency for Schools.

The site will continue to grow as further topics are added and other areas of support are implemented. It is intended both as an introduction to the area for new ITE trainers to current thinking, research and professional networks both within the UK and internationally.

If you are a new trainer and are interested in taking part in the English Trainers’ Induction Programme, please contact Teresa Cremin.

Information on the Induction Packs and Programme in other subject areas is available via the Training and Development Agency for Schools site or contact Matt Foulds (Effective Practices and Research Dissemination Team) at the Training and Development Agency for Schools (tel: 020 7023 8139).
